We embed sustainability considerations into our strategic planning, investment decision-making and risk management processes in alignment with our Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability Principles and Policy, Human Rights Policy, Code of Business Conduct and Supplier Code of Conduct.
Oxy's business strategy is designed to create sustainable long-term value. We do this through:
- Leveraging our industry-leading operational and subsurface capability to lower the average breakeven of our resource base and generate sustainable future cash flow
- Integrating emissions reduction, carbon management and innovation into core operations that enhance returns and reduce our carbon footprint
- Utilizing our existing expertise and unique infrastructure position to build and scale lower-carbon technologies and solutions that improve our operations for long-term value
- Improving the value of our assets and extending our resource life by lowering our cost structure, improving equipment reliability and maximizing uptime
- Increasing gas sales volumes through facility upgrades and flare minimization projects

Oxy’s sustainability reporting process is informed by the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Standards for the Oil & Gas sector and the IPIECA-API-IOGP Sustainability Reporting Guidance.
