Emergency Preparedness and Response
Oxy emphasizes a tiered approach to emergency preparedness and response (EP&R) and investigation guided by corporate frameworks. Business segment incident management teams lead implementation at the operational site based on site-specific risks and regulatory requirements. Oxy's emergency preparedness and response is designed to mitigate risk, safeguard stakeholders and strengthen operational resilience.
Oxy identifies potential emergency risks through risk assessments of operational and external factors, from historical data and environmental considerations, and strengthens its approach through stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement practices such as after-actions reviews and lessons learned across its operations.
We conduct emergency response exercises at the corporate, business segment and operational site levels to test our EP&R capabilities. These exercises include strategic decision-making, stakeholder communication and leadership coordination at the corporate level, as well as incident management support at the business segment level. At the operational site level, exercises are tailored to specific risks and include hands-on response activities, evacuation procedures and workforce engagement. Through these exercises, Oxy maintains integrated response capabilities designed to comply with regulatory requirements and foster a culture of safety and preparedness.
Stakeholders can report emergencies through various channels including dedicated emergency contact lines in our operations and online reporting portals. These mechanisms are designed to enable quick communication of vital information, facilitating prompt response and assistance from relevant authorities, stakeholders and industry partners. Training programs and awareness campaigns at both the business segment and operational site level further help stakeholders understand and utilize these reporting avenues effectively.
