Occidental has been an active investor in the Middle East for more than three decades. We are well regarded in this key region for our strong performance record, technical expertise and effective working relationships with strategic partners.

Our Middle East operations represented 38 percent of 2018 total worldwide ongoing production, where our focus areas are Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Occidental is a partner in a 30-year joint venture with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) on Al Hosn Gas, one of the largest natural gas developments in the Middle East. Occidental holds a 40-percent participating interest in the development, which is located in the Shah Field. Al Hosn Gas also features processing facilities to extract sulfur from natural gas and process it for sale. Al Hosn Gas became fully operational in 2015 and is a significant driver of Occidental's growth in the Middle East.

In 2019, Occidental was awarded a 35-year concession to explore and develop onshore Block 3, which covers an area of approximately 1.5 million acres. The block is adjacent to Al Hosn Gas.

Occidental also supplies natural gas to markets in the UAE through its participation in Dolphin Energy, the premier trans-border natural gas project in the Middle East and one of the region's largest energy initiatives.
