Oxy is included on Barron’s list of The World’s Most Respected Companies as rated by money managers. The companies ranked are the world’s 100 largest public companies by market value.
Corporate Responsibility Magazine's 100 Best Corporate Citizens (2010)
Oxy was one of the two highest-ranked oil and gas companies and No. 38 overall on Corporate Responsibility Magazine’s 12th Annual (2010) 100 Best Corporate Citizens list. The publication, formerly known as CRO Magazine, evaluates the large-cap Russell 1000 companies on 324 data points of publicly available information across seven categories: environment, climate change, human rights, philanthropy, employee relations, financial performance and governance. Oxy received a No. 1 ranking in corporate governance.
GovernanceMetrics (2010)
GovernanceMetrics International (GMI), an independent research and rating agency that evaluates corporate governance at more than 4,200 companies worldwide, assigned Oxy an overall perfect 10 ranking in June 2010. Oxy earned high ratings in each of the categories in GMI's assessment: board accountability, financial disclosure and internal controls, shareholder rights, remuneration, market for control and corporate behavior, which includes health, environment, safety and social responsibility.
Fortune Most Admired (2010)
In 2010, for the third year in a row, Fortune magazine ranked Oxy No. 1 in the Mining, Crude-Oil Production category in its annual World’s Most Admired Companies survey. Oxy ranked first in its category in seven key reputation attributes: people management, quality of management, social responsibility, long-term investment, financial soundness, use of corporate assets and quality of products and services.
Bloomberg BusinessWeek 50 (2010)
Oxy is the only major oil and gas producer included in Bloomberg Businessweek’s list of the 50 companies in the S&P 500 with the best total returns for shareholders over the last five years as of March 31, 2010.
OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (2010)
Many OxyChem facilities, including the headquarters in Dallas, have achieved Star Status under OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program as being among the safest work sites in the U.S.
Wildlife Habitat Council Certification (2010)
Oxy has eight facilities with Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC)-certified habitat enhancement programs. Seven programs were reviewed and recertified in 2010, while one new program was established.

United States
Habitat Conservation at Oxy Elk Hills (2010)
Oxy Elk Hills, working closely with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the California Department of Fish and Game, was recognized by the Wildlife Habitat Council for the ongoing development and implementation of projects for threatened and endangered species, including Oxy’s 7,878-acre habitat conservation area.
Wildlife Habit Council Certification at THUMS (2010)
THUMS Long Beach Company received recognition for habitat enhancement on Island Chaffee in 2010, joining prior certification of Islands White (2005), Grissom (2007) and Freeman (2009). Through the Wildlife Habit Council’s Wildlife at Work program, a team of employees, contractors and City of Long Beach representatives work together to address California native plant ecosystem management, biodiversity and education of local youth through THUMS’ outreach.
Clean Lease Award (2010)
Vintage Production California’s South Operations-Inland Team (NL&F Lease) received the Award for Outstanding Lease Maintenance from the California Department of Conservation – Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) at the California API Coastal Chapter’s Scholarship and Industry Awards Dinner on May 19, 2010.
Responsible Care® Energy Efficiency Awards (2010)
The OxyChem facilities in Augusta, Georgia; Wichita, Kansas; and Pasadena, Texas, were among the recipients of American Chemistry Council (ACC) Responsible Care Energy Efficiency Awards. All three facilities received 2010 awards in the category of Significant Improvement in Manufacturing Plant Site.
ACC Responsible Care® Employee of the Year Award (2010)
Diane Larson, OxyChem’s Responsible Care coordinator since 1995, was honored by the ACC as its 2010 Responsible Care Employee of the Year. The award honors member company employees who have made leadership contributions to advance the Responsible Care ethic.
State of New Jersey Department of Labor Award (2010)
The OxyVinyls Pedricktown Plant won the 2010 Governor’s Continued Excellence Award for Safety in the Workplace. The award is presented for working five or more consecutive calendar years without a lost time from a work-related injury or illness. It marked the 10th consecutive year in which the state of New Jersey recognized Oxy for outstanding safety performance.
Chemical Safety Excellence Award from CSX Transportation (2010)
OxyChem was recently presented with CSX Transportation’s 2010 Chemical Safety Excellence Award recognizing the commitment of OxyChem and OxyVinyls to safe hazardous material railcar loading and maintenance. OxyChem or OxyVinyls has received this award for the past six consecutive years. To qualify for the award, a company had to ship 600 or more railcars during the year on the CSX railroad with no releases attributed to the loading or unloading process. OxyChem and OxyVinyls safely shipped almost 12,000 railcars via CSX in 2010 without a release."
Vinyl Institute Awards (2010)
Three OxyVinyls facilities were honored by the Vinyl Institute in 2010. The awards recognize member companies that had the best safety and environmental performance in vinyl production during 2008.
The OxyVinyls plant in Deer Park, Texas, received an Environmental Excellence Award recognizing eight consecutive years of achievement.
The OxyVinyls plant in Pedricktown, New Jersey, received a Safety Excellence Award. This award recognizes plants that have not had a recordable incident — an occupational injury or illness resulting in medical treatment, as defined by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) — for five or more consecutive years.
The OxyVinyls plant in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, received a Safety Performance Award. This award recognizes efforts to improve worker safety based on OSHA’s recordable incidence rate and goes to plants with no recordable incidents.
Middle East
Oman Municipality Appreciation (2009)
Oxy received certificates of appreciation from the Ibri Wali Office and the Haima Wali Office for helping to support Municipality Month activities during 2009.
Oman Ministry of Oil and Gas (2010)
The Ministry of Oil and Gas awarded a certificate recognizing Oxy’s participation in the Oil and Gas Exhibition.
Oman Blood Donation (2010)
The Oman Ministry of Health awarded a certificate of appreciation to Oxy for its efforts in support of blood donation programs.
Oman Association for Disability (2010)
The Oman Association for Disability recognized Oxy Oman’s support of its activities by presenting the company with a certificate of appreciation.
Golden Water Award Finalist (2009)
The Mukhaizna Water Treatment Facility in Oman was a finalist for the 2009 Golden Water Award for Water Reuse Project of the Year, which honored the water reuse project representing the most significant achievement for the industry in the previous year.
Latin America
Recognition for Meritorious Activity for the Prevention of Risks (2009)
Oxy Colombia received a special recognition by the Latin American Occupational Safety & Hygiene Association (ALASEHT), which covers Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and Spain. ALASEHT was created in 1977 and grants this recognition biennially to one company per country that exhibits outstanding HES performance in 2009.
Cruz Esmeralda for Excellence (2009)
The Colombian Safety Council awarded Oxy Colombia the Cruz Esmeralda for Excellence in June 2010 at the 43rd Safety, Environment and Health Latin American Conference for Oxy Colombia’s 2009 HES performance. This award is the highest distinction given to any company in Colombia for HES performance, and this was the third time Oxy Colombia received the Cruz Esmeralda for Excellence.
