B.J. Hebert is Interim President of Occidental Chemical Corporation (OxyChem), a wholly owned subsidiary of Occidental Petroleum. In this role, he is responsible for providing the vision and leadership to drive the continued profitability of OxyChem and implementing strategies to maximize results and increase value. Mr. Hebert also oversees the development of future leadership talent, ensuring that succession plans are in place for key leadership positions in the organization.
Mr. Hebert’s career at OxyChem spans over 26 years. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President, Basic Chemicals, with global responsibility for leading the sales, business and marketing functions for chlorine, chlorine derivatives, ethylene dichloride, caustic soda, potassium chemicals, hydrochloric acid, pool chemicals and silicates. Previously, Mr. Hebert served as Vice President, Vinyls, where he had overall responsibility for leading the vinyls business and implementing key strategies and development initiatives. As Director of Manufacturing, he oversaw the 2005 integration of Vulcan Chemicals into OxyChem’s manufacturing organization. He also held leadership roles at OxyChem facilities in Ingleside, Texas, and Niagara Falls, N.Y.
Mr. Hebert previously served on the Management Committee of the Chlorine Chemistry Division of the American Chemistry Council, the Board of Directors for The Vinyl Institute and the Board of Directors for the Plastic Pipe and Fittings Association. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Chemistry Council. Mr. Hebert holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from McNeese State University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.
