NATURAL GAS STAR PRODUCTION PARTNER OF THE YEAR

Oxy was named 2008 Natural Gas STAR Production Partner of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, reflecting the company’s significant efforts to reduce methane emissions.

CLIMATE ACTION LEADER

All of Oxy's California operations have been granted the status of Climate Action Leader by the California Climate Action Registry upon submission of their 2007 certified GHG inventories.

CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION

Oxy was recognized for outstanding field lease and facility maintenance programs by the California Department of Conservation, Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources, for its Section 31S lease at the Elk Hills oil and gas operation, and on the Wetmore and Fano leases near Bakersfield.

PRAIRIE WETLAND CONSERVATION

The Prairie Wetland Conservation Area at OxyChem's Wichita, Kansas, plant was selected as a Signature of Sustainability, which recognizes locations where the habitat program demonstrates the very highest standards established by the Wildlife Habitat Council.

SUSTAINED EXCELLENCE

OxyChem is the only four-time recipient of the Responsible Care Sustained Excellence Award, the most prestigious award given by the American Chemistry Council. To read about additional OxyChem awards, click here.

AMERICAN CHEMISTRY COUNCIL

The American Chemistry Council recognized three OxyChem plants with 2008 Energy Efficiency Awards. The Wichita and Niagara Falls plants were honored for their initiatives "with substantial environmental benefits." The Wichita plant also was recognized for its energy efficiency program. And OxyChem’s Deer Park PVC plant received an award for Significant Improvement in Manufacturing.
