Diversity and Equal Opportunity

At Occidental, we actively promote diversity, inclusion and equal employment opportunity throughout the company. We believe in providing a workplace free from unlawful discrimination, hostility and harassment and where rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining are respected. Any hostility toward, discrimination against or harassment of any employee based on age, color, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, religion or any racial, ethnic or other personal characteristic is a violation of Occidental's policies.

At the close of 2015, women represented 21 percent of Occidental's U.S. workforce and 18 percent of our global workforce. Minorities represented 28 percent of our U.S. employee base. At year-end, women and minorities constituted 15 and 28 percent, respectively, of Occidental's U.S. petroleum technicians.

Our diverse workforce contributes to our ability to work effectively across multicultural environments. Internationally, we team with nationwide, regional and local governments to transfer skills and technology to workers in the regions where we operate, and to recruit and train local citizens for jobs at all levels of the company. As a result, Occidental successfully recruits and retains employees from these communities and countries, reducing the need for expatriate workers. An example of this success is exhibited at Occidental Oman, where the Omani employee base represented more than 88 percent of employees at year-end 2015, and approximately 70 percent of Occidental Oman’s senior management team.
