Occidental's HES Principles demonstrate
our commitment to developing and implementing programs which
focus on continuous improvement in resource conservation, release
reduction, pollution prevention and energy efficiency.
We set
objectives that consider business issues, other environmental
priorities, resource availability and past accomplishments, and
allow managers to prioritize capital spending in accordance with
the business segment HES risk management priorities.
HES professionals
participate on project teams formed to develop oil and gas resources
or improve chemical manufacturing. Team participation enhances
the consideration of environmental conservation measures at the
design stage of new facilities where the most cost-effective
pollution reduction measures can be incorporated into the project.
This section presents a review of our recent progress in environmental
responsibility. A full report of our HES activities is available
in our Annual Report
on Health, Environment & Safety.
