Vintage California is composed of Oxy's California assets, excluding Elk Hills, THUMS and Tidelands. The combined Vintage properties produce oil and gas from more than 50 fields encompassing approximately 1 million net acres, which includes both developed and undeveloped acreage, primarily located in the Ventura, San Joaquin and Sacramento basins.
Oxy completed the merger of Vintage Petroleum, Inc (VPI). into a wholly owned subsidiary in 2006. As a result, Oxy acquired VPI's assets in California, as well as assets in the Permian Basin of southwest Texas and southeast New Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia and Yemen.
