Occidental Chemical Corporation (OxyChem) is a leading North American manufacturer of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins, chlorine and caustic soda – key building blocks for a variety of indispensable products such as plastics, pharmaceuticals and water treatment chemicals. Other OxyChem products include caustic potash, chlorinated organics, sodium silicates, chlorinated isocyanurates, calcium chloride and resorcinol. For every product it makes, OxyChem’s market position is No. 1 or No. 2 in the U.S. and No. 1, 2 or 3 in the world. Based in Dallas, Texas, the company has manufacturing facilities in the United States, Canada, Chile and Brazil.
Occidental's wholly owned subsidiaries include OxyVinyls, LP and INDSPEC Chemical Corporation. Armand Products Company, a joint venture between OxyChem and Church & Dwight Co., Inc., sells potassium carbonate and potassium bicarbonate. Carbocloro S.A. Indústrias Químicas, a joint venture between OxyChem and UNIPAR, manufactures and sells chlor-alkali products in Brazil.

OxyChem achieved an Injury and Illness Incidence Rate (IIR) of 0.63 in 2009, a more-than-30 percent improvement compared to its 2001 IIR of 0.92. Also, since 2001, OxyChem has reduced emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOX) and sulfur oxides (SOX) by approximately 50 percent (about 2,900 tons per year) and releases of other substances to the environment by 22 percent. Eighteen of OxyChem's facilities, including the headquarters facility in Dallas, have achieved Star status under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program as among the safest work sites in the U.S.
