In addition to the Dolphin Project, Oxy participates in three offshore projects in Qatar: at Idd El Shargi North Dome (ISND), located approximately 50 miles east of the Qatar peninsula; Idd El Shargi South Dome (ISSD), about 15 miles south of ISND; and Al Rayyan (Block 12), located northeast of the Qatar peninsula. For the past 15 years, Oxy has worked in close cooperation with Qatar Petroleum to develop and operate offshore oil fields.
Oxy continues to maximize recovery rates and add new reserves through state-of-the-art reservoir characterization processes and technical development programs. In 2005, Oxy added a major new processing facility to the existing PS-1 offshore complex. The project increased the available production capacity through installation of additional facilities for gas compression, water injection, power generation and fluid separation. Building upon this new infrastructure, Oxy is implementing a third phase of development, comprising 70 additional production and water injection wells along with associated platforms and pipelines.
