Effective project management is fundamental to successful construction of new facilities and modification of existing facilities. Occidental is a member of the Construction Industry Institute and a practitioner of Project Management Institute best practices in the strategic management of construction and development projects.
Current projects include:
- In Qatar, the Idd El Shargi North Dome Phase 5 field development plan will comprise drilling over 200 additional production, water injection and water source wells, and the installation of associated facilities required to support the additional wells. The added facilities will include minimum facilities platforms, wellhead jackets, fluid processing equipment and pipeline debottlenecking and water source projects.
- In the United Arab Emirates, Occidental is working with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company on the Al Hosn Gas Project to develop one of the largest natural gas fields in the Middle East. The project's gas gathering system will collect and transport well stream fluid from the Shah Field to the main processing facility, which will include gas treatment facilities, sulfur recovery units and plant buildings. In addition, pipelines are being constructed to transport gas, condensate and natural gas liquids from the processing facility to the Asab/Habshan area. A separate pipeline will transport liquid sulfur from the processing plant to a granulation facility, where the liquid will be converted into solid granules. Storage and loading facilities also will be built to accommodate shipment. Initial production is expected to begin in late 2014.
