In the Kingdom of Bahrain, Oxy is partnering with the National Oil and Gas Authority of Bahrain (NOGA) and Mubadala of Abu Dhabi on a project to redevelop the long-producing Bahrain Field, site of the first oilfield discovery in an Arab Gulf state in 1932. We are participating in the management of the joint operating company, Tatweer Petroleum, with Mubadala and NOGA. Field operations began on December 1, 2009.
Also known as the Awali Field, the Bahrain Field spans most of the island nation. Working closely with Bapco, Bahrain’s national oil company, we expect gross oil production to be between 70,000 to 75,000 barrels of oil of per day and expect gross gas production to be 1.6 billion cubic feet per day by 2014. Waterflooding and steam flooding will be used to boost production from the legacy field’s reservoirs.
Oxy is also working with Bapco and NOGA to further explore offshore Blocks 1, 3 and 4 in the Kingdom.
