Product Details

OxyChem's affiliate OxyVinyls is the third-largest polyvinyl chloride (PVC) supplier in the United States.

PVC is a chlorinated hydrocarbon polymer produced commercially from vinyl chloride monomer (CH2=CHCl) by free radical polymerization in an aqueous suspension process.

OxyVinyls offers a full product line of PVC resins suitable for most vinyl production applications and maintains the highest quality standards in its manufacturing plants, all of which are ISO 9002 certified. Its reliable manufacturing operations lead the industry with an integrated raw material position. The resulting low-cost production position enables us to supply customers consistently, even through major swings in the commodity business cycle.

All products are manufactured under stringent safety and environmental standards and guidelines.

PVC products from OxyVinyls are available as a dry powder in bulk (railcars and bulk trucks) and packaged in bags. Export shipments can be in bags, bulk bags and other semi-bulk packages.

OxyChem's affiliate OxyVinyls, LP is the largest vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) producer in the United States.

Vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) is the key chemical precursor to PVC. It is produced commercially by combining a hydrocarbon feedstock, namely ethylene, obtained by cracking natural gas or petroleum, with elemental chlorine.

Chlorine is derived from brine—a solution of common salt and water. Since both raw materials are inexpensive, readily available commodities, PVC is less sensitive to fluctuations in the world oil market compared to other polymers. Chlorine also has excellent inherent flame-retardant properties that are directly passed on to vinyl end-products, such as electrical conduit and wiring, which require high resistance to flame.

OxyVinyls offers VCM as a commodity sold in large, commercial quantities for PVC manufacturing.
