potassium carbonate

Potassium carbonate is one of the most important inorganic compounds used in industry. It is as old as recorded history. Potassium carbonate was leached from ashes in Pompeii and mixed with slaked lime for soapmaking. The increase in the use of this alkali paralleled the growth of western civilization. Today potassium hydroxide (caustic potash or KOH) is produced through the electrolysis of potassium chloride brine. The KOH is carbonated with carbon dioxide to form potassium carbonate.

Potassium carbonate is produced by Armand Products Company, one of the world's largest producers of potassium carbonate and potassium bicarbonate and market leader in the industry since the company's formation in 1986. Armand Products is a joint venture of Occidental Chemical Corporation and a Church & Dwight Co., Inc. subsidiary.

OxyChem sells potassium carbonate in truckload and container quantities outside of the United States and Canada. Domestic requirements may be purchased directly from Armand Products Company in less than truckload, truckload, tank truck and rail car quantities.
