ACL® products

OxyChem markets three ACL products: ACL 90 PLUS, ACL 60 and ACL 56. All are stable, dry, highly concentrated, chlorine-containing solids used for sanitizing swimming pools and spas, controlling biofouling in industrial water systems, and disinfecting drinking water and wastewater.

ACL 90 PLUS

ACL 90 PLUS is trichloroisocyanuric acid or "trichlor". ACL 90 PLUS is available in fast-dissolving tablets or granules.

Used in a float feeder, skimmer or an automatic feeder ACL 90 PLUS tablets will provide a constant chlorine output to the swimming pool or spa. Granular ACL 90 can also be used to eliminate "black algae". "Black algae" grows in the cracks and crevices of swimming pools and is extremely difficult to kill. Granular ACL 90 can be used to kill black algae by pouring it directly on the contaminated area.

ACL 90 PLUS has the highest chlorine content (90 percent) of any solid or liquid sanitizer.

ACL 56 and 60

ACL 56 and ACL 60 products are sodium dichloroisocyanurate salts or "dichlor" for short.

ACL 56 is a dihydrate and has an available chlorine content of 56 percent. ACL 60 is anhydrous and has an available chlorine content of 63 percent. Both of these products are quick dissolving granular products ideal for all hand dosing applicatins and "shocking" or super-chlorinating applications. They can also be used for continuous chlorination with the use of a granular feeder.

FAST DISSOLUTION ACL 56 and ACL 60 products dissolve more completely and at least 5 times faster than other granular chlorine products. Other granular chlorine products require predissolving for as long as 20 minutes, and even then, undissolved particles may persist and bleach pool surfaces. With ACL 56 and ACL 60 products, you don't have to pre-dissolve, just add it directly to the pool. It dissolves completely in seconds.

NO CALCIUM SCALING You can depend on ACL 56 and ACL 60 products to keep pools sparkling clear without cloudiness, calcium scaling or chemical residue. You especially risk scaling with calcium hypochlorite, because it adds calcium hardness to the pool water. This can cause scale build-up in your plumbing, leading to large repair bills.

NEUTRAL pH ACL 56 and ACL 60 products have an essentially neutral pH. Because of this chemical property, they have little effect on the pool or spa water's pH and alkalinity. Calcium hypochlorite and liquid chlorine on the other hand are highly alkaline. Neutralizing chemicals are therefore required with these other forms of granular chlorine.

ACL 60
ACL 60 granules are the fastest dissolving solid granular chlorine product available. Tests show that ACL 60 granular grade, when broadcast into the deep end of a swimming pool, will dissolve by the time the granules fall to the four foot level. The pool water is left sparkling clear and can be used immediately.

ACL 56
Sodium dichloroisocyanurate dihydrate does not require as stringent storage conditions as the ACL 60 and ACL 90 products. According to the DOT, ACL 56 product is not classified as an oxidizer and, therefore, does not require a DOT oxidizer label.
