Ingleside Energy Center

Community Benefits

Children enjoying their community

The new IEC, located adjacent to OxyChem's Ingleside, Texas chemical operation, will be dedicated to the same excellent health and safety tradition established by OxyChem more than 20 years ago. The IEC will also adhere to Oxy's Good Neighbor policies with an emphasis on ethical business conduct, responsible workplace practices and sound community and environmental initiatives.

The IEC is also expected to bring additional jobs to the local Texas market.

Economic Benefits

LNG offers an expanded and diversified natural gas source to reduce the dependence on existing natural gas supplies and help combat rising energy prices to American consumers and industries.

Local businesses and industries depending upon natural gas are at a market disadvantage when they pay higher gas prices than their competitors. The added capacity brought into the IEC should help lower operating costs for companies in the markets serviced by IEC and the San Patricio pipeline.

  • The project is expected to contribute additional revenue to the local tax base.
  • The project is expected to generate new jobs during construction, and provide opportunities for local support services, peripheral industries and businesses.
  • The completed project is expected to provide opportunities for approximately 35 permanent operations workers and numerous support service jobs.
  • The terminal’s natural gas imports will be delivered via the existing pipeline grid to local utilities or other end-users, helping to reduce the area's dependency on existing natural gas resources and offer business owners a competitive advantage by stabilizing natural gas and electricity prices.
