Internship Project: Development of a 3-D Reservoir Model

"My internship project was focused on construction of a 3-D porosity model. During the internship, I was able to leverage aspects of my ongoing thesis and coursework back at UT, while learning to use 3-D modeling software on-the-job for Oxy in Houston. Prior to returning to graduate school at the end of the year, I presented my results to collegial gatherings of peers, managers, and other interns.

"Upon completion of my project, I was able to model reservoir geometries and apply geostatistical techniques for distribution of reservoir properties within a defined volume. On a less technical level, I learned to appreciate the synergy between the disciplines of geology, petrophysics, geophysics and engineering. My experience convinced me that regardless of one's sub-discipline, we are all earth scientists, and data analysis is most complete when considered from each viewpoint."
