Employee development at Oxy is a planned, collaborative process. Employees and managers share responsibility to align individual development needs and career opportunities with Oxy’s business requirements and growth targets.

Training and Development
Oxy provides access to many in-house and external training and development resources. The company’s development program for early-career professionals is just one example.

Oxy provides both instructor-led and e-learning opportunities for personnel development. Current employees should contact their Human Resources representative or the Employee and Organization Development Team (E&OD) for help identifying the appropriate development options to meet their needs.

In the area of technical development, Oxy provides a variety of training solutions, including the PetroSkills program for engineers, computer skills, and specific functional skills training. Employees can learn about these training programs through their manager or function chief.

Educational Assistance Program
Oxy provides educational assistance to eligible full-time, regular employees who successfully complete pre-approved courses of study. Upon completion of each course of study, employees will generally be reimbursed for mandatory fees or necessary expenses including tuition, textbooks, laboratory fees, parking, and admission fees. This benefit applies to a maximum of 10 courses per calendar year, up to the total pre-approved reimbursement amount.

International Development Programs
Oxy’s international operations have ongoing, comprehensive programs in place to recruit and train national employees for jobs at all levels of the company. This is a key process in emerging countries striving to enhance economic development, transfer technical expertise to the workforce, increase national employment, and reduce dependence on expatriate workers. In the Middle East, for example, Oxy is a leading job creator for nationals in the countries in which we operate, enthusiastically expanding on government programs such as “Omanization” and “Qatarization.”
