For close to twenty years, Best Buddies has been enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. Again in late 2007, Occidental Petroleum participated as a Golden State sponsor for the California Audi Best Buddies Challenge, one of the nation's premier cycling events along a 100 mile-long event on the Pacific Coast Highway from Carmel to Hearst Castle in California's central coast.

Oxy was a member of the Best Buddies 2007 host committee and raised more than $100,000 donated to Best Buddies. Approximately 100 TeamOxy cyclists from all over the country to participate in this year's Challenge. This year's TeamOxy results can be viewed on the TeamOxy Best Buddies page.

Special athletes, hundred of cyclists and high-profile personalities participated in the event which ended at the Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA with a post-ride private concert party and barbeque. 100 percent of the money raised by riders benefits Best Buddies International in carrying out its mission.
